Live at last.
Finally after much deliberation and consternation I have my new website live. Who would have thought a simple website would take such a long time to get sorted, and still with bits and pieces to fix. However, I must thank Fraser Halley the developer for his patience, and dealing with my whims and fancies with good grace.
The pictures are quite big and when viewed on slideshow they really look well. Downside is those who are viewing on older overworked computers may experience the photographs taking a little time to load up.
It has been a busy start to the year for food and drink photography. I was down at Bath to photograph wine for Farmison, I had never been to Bath so I was looking forward to seeing the place, unfortunately we arrived in the dark photographed all next day and left in the dark. Oh well, next time maybe.
Up to Aviemor for Hilton and the drive was spectacular, snow covered hills and good visibility and even a little sun now and then...beautiful, all the times I drive to the Highlands and I am never bored. Photographing the new restaurant in the Hilton Coylumbridge and a little food photography, and really good it was too.
Spent Sunday at the Barras- Glasgow flea market for the uninitiated-trying to find some vintage pieces for future food shoots, and managed to find a couple of items which will find there way into photographs at some point. Its not easy, believe it or not, to come across really nicely aged/distressed wood. So when I saw a traders table that looked the part I immediately offered to buy it, however negotiations did not go well. Basically I would have to buy all the stuff on the table as well, “am no sellin’ af the flair sun” for those who may need a translation " I am sorry but I cannot sell my products off the floor, my good man" Fair enough I suppose. No sale this time, might come back to that one.

2 months in already , how time flies....actually it is easily explained. Do you remember as a child summers seemed to last forever, and as adults the years fly past. Apparently its down to percentages. 1 year is a biggar percentage of your time on the planet as a 10 year old, than as a fifty year old...think about it. 10% plays 2% . So as we get older a set period of time is a smaller and smaller percentage of our time here, so it appears to pass quicker. The fact that you are clearing up after them, being a taxi driver, cooking and cleaning, and holding down a job has absolutely nothing to do with it what so ever....
Work wise things have been 'steady' did a little video for a cocktail bar in St Andrews last week, RBar, which has worked out rather well. More video work please! It is very time consuming and I am very much feeling my way but I do enjoy it.
Now I know this might seem a little premature- I mean time passes quickly enough, right?- but I have had a conversation with a client re Christmas, Christmas coming, and yes I know we have barely paid off last Christmas. But plans have to be made...diaries set, and hampers shot. Okay, okay I know it is ridiculouly early but I have had that conversation....and you know how time flies.

Friday late PM very nearly wine o'clock.... still taking pictures though so wine will have to wait for a bit. Busy old week, with my good friends at Farmison and Hilton keeping me busy. Visited Geoffrey Smeddle for the Sunday Herald and had a really good shoot with Geoff.
Very sad to have missed out on an amazing dinner at the Yorke Arms. I was invited down to enjoy a fabulous truffle dinner, however I had to pull out due to work commitments, I can't tell you how disappointed I am.....such is the lot of a freelance.
Another busy week next week with food and hospitality, soups to photograph on Monday more Farmison on Tuesday and through to Edinburgh for Hilton for a couple of days. Will be posting some of the new shots soon, once the clients have approved. Back to work now...speak soon.

Okay so I said speak soon, and here we are a month later, my apologies. I have been given a row for not doing more blogging, from a woman called Kat, who I don't know particularly well but she felt qualified to tell me what for! A woman whoes knowledge and abilities I could do with!
Well, what has been happening? Had an interesting trip to Burnley to visit and take pictures of the Wellocks Perfect Ingredient show. There was a chefs conference , where I caught up with Frances Atkins, from the Yorke Arms and Amanda Afiya from Caterersearch.com. I was working with Fiona and Jason from e11even and the whole day was really interesting. Fois Gras from France, hams from Spain and rhubarb from Yorkshire...brilliant!
Had a lovely trip up to Skye to video Marcello Tulley at Kinloch lodge ( video will be on site soon, or check it out on Vimeo) and that went really well. Hoping to go back there soon.
Photographing a lot of steaks of late, so for all you carnivores out there how about getting your laughing gear round this beauty...... courtesy of Bovine on Byres Road Glasgow.
